The Assyrian Captivity

Did you know that at one point during its existence the Northern Kingdom of Israel was exhorted invaded and finally conquered and taken captive by the Assyrian Monarchs Tilgath-Pileser III (Pul) and Shalamaneser V? The imprisonment of Northern Israel began in 740 BCE And during that same time the tribes of Gad, Reuben and Manasseh were all taken away one by one during the first successful invasion of the Assyrian Empire. In 721 BCE the Northern Israeli Capital of Saminara met its end at the hands of Sargon II. In all 27, 290 Israelites were taken captive in the Assyrian raid.
